SGK Legal, a boutique law firm, was operating on an aging Windows Server 2012 Essentials environment. With the 2012 lifecycle reaching its end and hardware performance declining, the firm required a complete infrastructure overhaul. The goal was to transition to Windows Server 2026 Standard without interrupting the firm’s critical legal operations.

The Challenge

For a small law firm, the server is the heart of the business—housing case files, sensitive client data, and user permissions. The primary risks included:
