Computer Services New Jersey (CSNJ) is an IT company in Holmdel, Monmouth County, supporting architecture and engineering firms across New Jersey and New York City. We build the network, file storage, workstations and remote access that a design office depends on, so project files open fast and nothing is lost. Support requests are answered in 30 minutes or less.
Heavy files need a strong network
A design office is limited by its slowest file, and a file is only as fast as the network, storage and workstation behind it. That is what we build and look after: switches and Wi-Fi, file storage, remote access and workstations. We also support AutoCAD.
We size workstations to the work: the right graphics card, enough memory and fast local storage, with a refresh cycle so the oldest machines are not the ones running the biggest models.
Central models and shared project files (Revit worksharing)
Revit worksharing keeps a central model that several people edit at once, and it is the first thing to break when the network is the problem. A slow VPN, a sync folder such as OneDrive pointed at the central file, or a server far from the users causes slow opens, failed syncs and corrupted local copies.
The choice is between a file server in the office, a server in the cloud and a hybrid of the two. The right one depends on how many people work from outside, how big the models are and how fast the connection is, and we help you choose before you buy rather than after.
Licensing, plotters and large-format printers
Autodesk uses named-user licensing, so a missed renewal or a departed employee still holding a seat shows up as a surprise invoice or a locked-out designer. We keep the list of users, licences and renewals current. Plotters and large-format printers are the other regular source of lost hours, and we manage their drivers, queues and supplies with the rest of the office.
Backup of large project archives
A project archive is years of drawings and models, often hundreds of gigabytes. It needs a backup that copes with the size, keeps older versions and has been tested by restoring, not only by watching a green tick. We set up the backup and test the restore.
The design office, not the jobsite
This page is about the design office. If your firm also runs field staff and jobsite trailers, see our IT support for construction companies page.
Where this fits with our other services
This page covers what is different for architecture and engineering firms. For the services behind it, see our managed IT services, cloud backup and network cabling.

Frequently asked questions
Why is Revit slow over our VPN?
A central Revit model is a large file that is read and written constantly, so a slow or overloaded VPN, a distant server or a sync folder pointed at the model makes every open and sync slow. The fix is usually a better location for the file, a better connection or a cloud workstation, depending on your setup.
What workstation do we need for Revit?
It depends on the size of your models, but the key parts are a capable graphics card, plenty of memory and fast local storage. We size the machines to your projects and set a refresh cycle.
Cloud or on-site file server for project files?
Either can work. The choice depends on how many staff work remotely, how large the models are and the speed of your connection. We help you compare them before you commit.
Do you manage Autodesk licenses?
We keep track of named users, licences and renewals so seats are assigned and removed on time.
Can you back up very large project archives?
Yes. We set up a backup that handles the size, keeps older versions and is tested by restoring.
